Job Description:

As a Senior Formulation Scientist, you will play a crucial role in the development and optimization of solid dosage formulations, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, efficacy, and safety. You will lead formulation projects from concept through to commercial production, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulation Development: Lead the design, development, and optimization of solid dosage forms, including tablets, capsules, and powders, ensuring robust and scalable processes.
  • Project Management: Oversee formulation projects from R&D through to commercial scale-up, managing timelines, resources, and budgets effectively.
  • GMP Compliance: Ensure all formulation activities are conducted in strict adherence to GMP standards, including documentation, validation, and quality control processes.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior scientists, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve formulation and manufacturing issues, using your expertise to optimize processes and improve product performance.
  • Regulatory Support: Prepare and review technical documentation for regulatory submissions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and guidelines.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with analytical, quality assurance, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of formulation processes into production.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: A Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of circa 5 years of hands-on experience in solid dosage formulation within a GMP-regulated environment.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of solid dosage form development, including pre-formulation, formulation, and process development. Experience with scale-up and tech transfer is highly desirable.
  • GMP Knowledge: In-depth understanding of GMP regulations and their application in pharmaceutical development and manufacturing.
  • Problem-Solving: Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex formulation challenges.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
