A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a PSV / PCV Engineer to join a progressive forward thinking transport company in the Yorkshire area.

Job Description:

  • To service, maintain and repair our fleet, in a safe, efficient and economical manner to the required legal, regulatory and company standards.
  • To maintain, service and repair vehicles to meet or exceed the minimum legal, regulatory and company standards to ensure that the company operating licence is protected at all times, including the raising and completion of all necessary documentation in either a digital or paper format.
  • To use our digital maintenance system Freeway in all day-to-day operations to maximise the benefit of efficiencies and data from the system.
  • To carry out preventative and corrective maintenance and fault diagnosis.
  • To undertake major unit changes on vehicles.
  • To check and prepare vehicles for the annual DVSA inspection.
  • To attend the breakdown of vehicles or any other emergencies as requested.
  • To work safely, complying with legal, regulatory and company standards and procedures, including the wearing of PPE and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • To report technical issues to line management as required.
  • To support with the training, development and mentoring of apprentices, semi-skilled staff and other colleagues.
  • To undertake training and development with internal and external suppliers/ companies which maybe on or off site, as required to maintain and develop your skills to enable you to perform successfully in your role.
  • To perform any other duties that may reasonably be required in line with your main duties.

Beneficial Skills / Qualifications:

  • Level 3 NVQ / City and Guilds qualification or equivalent in vehicle maintenance, ideally bus and coach or heavy engineering.
  • The ability to work as part of a team to ensure that work is completed to the required standard and service is met.
  • The ability to work with minimal supervision and use initiative whilst ensuring that legal, regulatory and company standards are met at all times.
  • A good working knowledge of health and safety requirements and best practice in relation to working in a garage.
  • The ability to work accurately and with a high level of attention to detail.
  • A flexible approach to work recognising that priorities may change in order to meet service.
  • A PCV licence holder, or prepared to complete training to gain.
  • Previous experience of working within the bus industry.
  • Previous experience of using digital fleet management systems.
  • Previous experience of using diagnostic equipment
  • To work as part of a team to maintain, service and repair vehicles to ensure service is met.
  • To ensure full compliance with legal, regulatory and company standards.
  • To work shifts which covers 5 days out of 7 on an early, late and nights rota.
  • Travel to locations within Yorkshire and off site to attend breakdowns / emergencies

Additional Information:

  • £40,000 - £42000 per annum basic
  • OTE - £60K - £65K - Overtime / Call out
  • Ongoing training
  • Sponsorship available
