Our client is looking for an experienced Project manager to join their team in Nottingham as a Senior Project Manager. The role is to lead a team of project managers and improvement officers to deliver a varied programme from local improvement schemes through to significant and complex highway and civil engineering projects (circa £25-£35m) to meet company business plan objectives.
 
What you will be doing:
·To lead and coordinate, the planning and delivery of significant and complex projects, understanding company-wide and third-party dependencies, resource and technical requirements to meet internal and external stakeholder requirements including budget management.
·To plan resource capacity, commitment and forward workflow, working collaboratively across the company to maximise productivity and achievement of customer expectations.
·To take responsibility for the scoping, development and achievement of project management services bringing together design and environmental services to enable successful delivery of significant and complex projects, and programmes both internally and externally.
·To provide expertise and manage the process of complex queries for internal and external stakeholders through to resolution, taking account of professional liabilities, and acting as an escalation point across areas of team expertise.
·To plan and lead the future business development of the team to achieve growth strategy; expanding the client base, innovating and exploiting market opportunities.
·Manage, coach and develop a team of technical staff engaged in all aspects of the service area to enable individuals to achieve their potential and deliver effective business results.
·To hold the team to account to comply with all statutory responsibilities including Health, Safety and Environmental, duties, policies and procedures to ensure standards are met to maintain a consistent and high-quality professional service.
·Act as an ambassador across political, professional, business and community networks and events at local and regional levels to maintain a positive company reputation, build relationships with third parties and promote internal expertise for business development.
 
What you need to know:
·Proven experience in managing major projects and a design service delivered through appropriate contractual arrangements.
·Proven experience in managing people and performance to create high-performing individuals and teams meeting stipulated KPIs.
·Proven experience in managing a portfolio of large-scale highway and civil engineering projects and delivering all to projected delivery timescales as agreed with client/sponsor.
·Proven experience in financial management and budgetary monitoring spending to give confidence in the delivery programme and outturn costs being to client satisfaction.
·Proven experience of influencing and communicating at a senior level within internal and external organisations.
·A degree in Project Management, Civil Engineering, or a related subject and post-qualification relevant experience, or equivalent knowledge gained through practical experience in a highway and/or civil engineering project management environment.
·Membership of a relevant Professional Institution or evidence to demonstrate a commitment to continual professional development.
·Strong ICT skills including Microsoft Office applications, project management software and knowledge of data management environments.
