Position Overview: We are looking for a number of Civil Structural Engineers with expertise in designing and analysing civil structures, particularly within the water consultancy industry. This role involves both independent work and team supervision, with occasional secondments to client sites.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer, member of IStructE or ICE.

Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of structural engineering codes (Eurocodes, BSI, etc.).
  • Extensive experience in reinforced concrete (RC) design, including water and soil retaining structures and foundations.
  • Experience in steelwork design.
  • Understanding of geotechnics and soil-structure interactions.
  • Experience in the water/utilities sector is an advantage.
  • Ability to prepare, review, and approve structural designs.
  • Proficiency in computational analysis techniques and software; knowledge of BIM is a plus.
  • Ability to inspect, diagnose, and recommend re-use or adaptation of existing structures.
  • Knowledge of construction techniques.
  • Commitment to sustainability, including re-use of structures and low carbon design.
  • Experience in project and business management, including resource planning and fee estimation.
  • Understanding of cost and contract management is an advantage.

  • Apply knowledge and experience independently or while supervising a team.
  • Perform technical design and analysis for new and existing steel and concrete structures using appropriate software and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to support project delivery.
  • Lead quality, sustainability, and safety initiatives throughout the design and asset lifecycle.
  • Assist in preparing project briefs, scopes of work, and bid proposals.
  • Manage time and budgets to meet project milestones and schedules.
  • Contribute to personal and professional growth, as well as the development of colleagues.
