4x Retail Assistants in Derry City Centre and 2x Retail Assistants in Strabane for a leading charity shop.

20 hours per week, may include weekend work

£22,454 per annum (pro rata)

12 months fixed term (then subject to funding)

Travel expenses  current rate of 40p per mile will be payable for mileage undertaken in connection with work

Holidays: 5 working weeks, exclusive of bank and customary holidays and alsopension scheme.

This post requires that a check must be carried out under the requirements
of ACCESS NI enhanced disclosure. This will involve a full criminal
records check which will show spent and unspent convictions, cautions,
cases pending or any other relevant information.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The post holder is responsible for assisting in the day to day running of the Charity shop.

Shop Management
• Assist in achieving agreed sales targets
• Ensure excellence in terms of customer service and customer care.
• Implement shop policies as required
• Accept, sort and price stock and donations in accordance with organisational policies
• Ensure standards of hygiene are maintained and the shop is clean and tidy at all times
• Ensure the best possible presentation and display of goods for sale
• Work alongside and provide support, where appropriate, to volunteers
• Help maintain a high standard of visual merchandising and displays
• Comply with all financial and administration procedures 
• Ensure all security procedures and policies are correctly followed
• Ensure manual handling guidelines are followed
• Maintain PR programme of internal and external events and social media activities, including planning and implementing advertising and promotional strategies and activities.
• To respond to and manage customer complaints and enquiries.

Other Duties
• To undertake any other work as could be expected of a Retail Assistant, including covering gaps in rotas.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings
• Maintain absolute confidentiality with regard to company information.
• To adhere to the Code of Conduct for Staff and Volunteers and ensure a
harmonious working environment in which the dignity of all employees, volunteers and children, carers, families and members of the public is respected.

Essential Criteria
• Experience of working in retail or customer service environment.
• Experience of working with sales and targets.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of customer service skills.
• Flexible and adaptable to change.
• Good time management and organisational skills.
• Experience of using social media.
• Ability to use basic IT, word, excel, email.
• A willingness to get stuck in and learn new skills.
• Good written and numeric skills.
• Ability to retain confidence and discretion.
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Proven ability to work with minimum supervision and use own initiative to complete duties and tasks and manage work within a team.
• Prepared to learn new skills.
• Willingness to take managerial direction.
• Ability to retain confidence and discretion.
• A demonstrable commitment to equality of opportunity.
• A current driving licence with access to a car. (Can be waived in the case of applicant whose disability prohibits driving, but who is able to organise suitable alternative arrangements).

Desirable Criteria
• Knowledge of the work of Charity Shops and its mission, vision and values.
• Experience of working in a fast paced environment, juggling multiple projects
simultaneously.
• Creative, comes up with ideas.
