SEMH Secondary School recruiting SEMH Teaching Assistants for September start 

  • Monday to Friday
  • Long-term, Full-time
  • 8.30am-4.45pm

About the Role:

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team at a thriving SEMH Secondary School near Merton. Your role will be pivotal in supporting students with a range of emotional and behavioral needs, helping them to achieve their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment.

  • The school is located near an overground station and local bus routes to Croydon, Wandsworth, Lambeth connecting to Tram and undergrounds links.

Teaching Assistant - Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior support strategies.
  • Work closely with teachers to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
  • Foster positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and participation.
  • Support the development of social skills and emotional resilience in students.
  • Monitor and report on student progress to ensure tailored support is provided.

Teaching Assistant - Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is highly desirable however a keen interest in working with vulnerable people is what is essential
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient attitude.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
