Cover Supervisor (Science)

Location: Newcastle

Pay Scale: £80 - £100 per day

Start: September 2024

Contract: Part-Time/Full-Time

GSL Education is looking for a reliable and hardworking individual to join as a Cover Supervisor for Science subjects in our client schools in Newcastle.

Job summary:

As a Cover Supervisor you will be responsible for a smooth running of the school's operations by overseeing science courses while teaching staff is temporarily absent. You will oversee classroom behavior, keep things in a healthy learning atmosphere, and assist students with their assignments.

As a Cover Supervisor, your key responsibilities are to:

• Manage and supervise classrooms when the regular teacher is not present.
• Convey pre-arranged example plans and assets given by instructing staff.
• Create a positive learning environment and ensure that students adhere to their assignments.
• Offer students assistance and support as needed.
• Communicate effectively with teaching staff and school authority.
• Help with different obligations as required, including test invigilation and administrative tasks.

As a Cover Supervisor, essential requirements include:

• Previous experience teaching science in an educational setting is desirable but not essential.
• Strong classroom management abilities.
• The ability to keep science lessons fun and adapted to all children's learning needs.
• An updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
