Job Advertisement: Temporary Senior Accounts Payable Clerk

Location: Winchester, Hampshire
Hours: Part-time (30 hours/week) or Full-time (40 hours/week)

Are you an experienced finance professional with a keen eye for detail and a passion for excellence? We are on the lookout for a dedicated and proactive Senior Accounts Payable Clerk to join a dynamic team. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to contribute to the smooth financial operations of our prestigious school, located in the heart of Winchester.

Key Responsibilities:

  • School Fee Invoicing: Prepare and generate termly fee invoices, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail. Manage all aspects of fee billing, including disbursements and ad-hoc invoices.
  • Payroll Processing: Collect timesheets, process monthly payroll using SAGE, and manage pension and HMRC submissions. Ensure timely and accurate salary payments.
  • Purchase Ledger: Process purchase invoices, credit notes, and expense claims. Manage weekly BACS payment runs and ensure all transactions are properly approved.
  • Accounting: Prepare termly management accounts, conduct bank reconciliations, and assist with the preparation of annual statutory accounts. Maintain records for restricted funds and provide financial support to school projects.

Person Specification:

  • Part or fully qualified accountant with experience in finance.
  • Experience in running a monthly payroll system, ideally using SAGE.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience in a school environment is desirable but not essential.
