Are you passionate about supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) difficulties? Do you have the experience, resilience, and dedication to make a positive impact on young lives? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join a specialist SEMH school as an SEN Teaching Assistant.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to children with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, helping them to engage in learning and develop positive behaviours.
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) that address the specific needs of each student.
  • Support students who have experienced trauma, offering a calm and empathetic presence in the classroom.
  • Use strong behaviour management skills to maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Monitor and report on students' progress, working closely with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure consistent support.
  • Help students develop social and emotional skills, building their confidence and resilience.


What We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs, mental health difficulties, or trauma backgrounds is essential.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.
  • A deep understanding of the impact of trauma and mental health difficulties on children's learning and behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with students, staff, and families.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
