Health & Safety Manager

Spalding, Lincolnshire

£45,000 - £55,000 + Car + Package

Private/Social House Building and Commercial Building Contractor

I'm working with a building contractor based out of Spalding looking for an in-house Health & Safety Manager.

They specialise in house building (private and social) and some commercial builds as well. With nearly a 40-year pedigree behind them.

They are open to people with experience in client and contracting side as the process is the same at the end of the day.

The Role

Currently the role is fulfilled at site level and through various people in the business. This role would bring everything together and work closely with all departments. It's a perfect opportunity to put a stamp on something and smooth the process.

Site monitoring would be a maximum of an hour radius from Spalding.

  • Create, update, and enforce company-wide health and safety policies, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Identify potential hazards on construction sites and conduct regular risk assessments to minimize the likelihood of accidents or injuries.

  • Regularly visit construction sites to ensure adherence to safety protocols, and identify and correct unsafe practices.

  • Organize and conduct safety training sessions for all construction workers, supervisors, and contractors, covering topics such as proper equipment use, hazard recognition, and emergency procedures.

  • Investigate any accidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions reported on-site, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for preventing future incidents.

  • Develop and implement emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and first aid protocols, ensuring all personnel are aware of their roles during emergencies.

  • Stay up-to-date with changes in occupational health and safety regulations and ensure the construction site remains compliant with all legal requirements.

  • Foster a culture of safety by encouraging open communication, reporting of hazards, and active participation in safety initiatives among all employees.

  • Work closely with project managers to integrate safety considerations into project planning and execution, ensuring that safety is prioritized throughout the construction process.

  • Maintain comprehensive records of all safety-related activities, including training logs, incident reports, inspection checklists, and compliance documentation.
