Cranleigh STEM is partnering with an innovative start-up dedicated to replacing fossil fuels and combating climate change. We want to hear from Senior Process Engineers who are passionate about sustainability and eager to join this rapidly growing organisation.

In this role, you will be a key player in designing and optimising our client’s hydrogen production system. You’ll have the opportunity to take full technical ownership of all aspects of their ongoing projects.

To be considered, you should have a degree in process or chemical engineering and experience with equipment such as compressors, heat exchangers, composition sensors, valves, and filters.

Role: Full-time, permanent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the engineering team in designing, specifying, and sourcing components for hydrogen generators.
  • Developing Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Creating engineering documentation, including technical specifications, spec sheets, equipment and valve lists, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Collaborating with vendors to procure process equipment.
  • Assisting in the development of procedures and risk assessment documents.
  • Operating equipment in research and development (R&D) environments.
  • Analysing data logger files to identify opportunities for system performance improvement.
  • Participating in Health & Safety (H&S) meetings and reporting potential issues or enhancements in the company’s H&S practices.
  • Supporting the operations team with root cause analysis and troubleshooting activities.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Process or Chemical Engineering.
  • Proven industry experience in an engineering design environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment focused on developing first-of-a-kind technology.

Desirable:

  • Prior experience working with hydrogen or other flammable gases in an ATEX/Ex environment.
  • Previous experience specifying process equipment and liaising with vendors.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities, particularly in the context of cutting-edge technology development.
  • Structured and organised work methods and file management skills.
  • Pragmatic approach with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in writing clear and concise technical documentation.
