Head of Data

Salary: £75,000 plus benefits

Location: Southend on Sea, Essex (Hybrid Working)

Permanent, Full Time (Monday - Friday)  

35 hours per week

Estuary Housing are currently seeking a Head of Data who will play a key role in helping to make us a truly data-led organisation.

This is an exciting time to join us, as you will be able to shape and lead the development of our Data Strategy.

We're looking for an engaging, highly data literate individual to drive a data led culture and lead the delivery of improvements in how we govern and manage our data at Estuary. You’ll develop and implement an organisation wide Data Strategy and drive improvements in data governance, data quality management and insight.  

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Establish the direction for building the business’ data management programme and optimising how the business uses data both internally and externally.
  • Create and sustain robust data organisation and support data transformation, that will support a data-driven culture.
  • Empower Estuary's people to ask and answer their own questions with data.
  • Define and drive analytics and business intelligence initiatives in support of change and continuous improvement programmes.
  • Champion the importance of Data Governance and implementing a culture of data ownership supported by robust processes.
  • Lead the data team and line management of the Performance and Data Officer and Data Governance Officer. 

 To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Be passionate about the potential of data to transform our business and deliver our social purpose.
  • Experience in data architecture, data quality management and a passion for data governance.
  • Extensive experience in building and leading data management, analytics modelling business analysis and business insight.
  • Knowledge of the application of Agile practice and methodologies such as Design, Lean, system thinking to effectively solve problems, shape ideas, and maximise outcomes.
  • A successful track record of evangelizing and advocating for the value of data analytics across diverse audiences, including senior leadership and executives.
  • Be knowledgeable in end-to-end data lifecycle and excellent understanding in a wide array of data tools such as SQL and the Power Platform.
  • A proven record of effective leadership, including the ability to balance team and individual responsibilities, build teams and consensus, get things done through others not directly under his/her supervision, and work ethically and with integrity.

Knowledge of Housing sector business processes would be advantageous but is not essential.

We do expect some presence at the Southend on Sea office in order to guide our cuture to achieve our aims but the role can be very flexible towards home working.
