Murray McIntosh is currently recruiting for a Mechatronics Engineer to work on a permanent basis for a client of ours as detailed below:

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Manage automation projects or subsystems.
  • Provide technical guidance to automation engineers.
  • Produce detailed requirement specifications and design ideas.
  • Design electromechanical systems (robots, actuators, conveyors, test apparatus).
  • Design electrical and pneumatic control systems, creating schematics and drawings.
  • Develop complex machine control systems and software using Allen Bradley CompactLogix PLCs (Ladder, SFC, Structured Text).
  • Program robotic systems (Fanuc, Mitsubishi).
  • Design vision systems for automated measurement, inspection, and control.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement machine safety systems for UKCA (CE) compliance.
  • Develop 3D engineering models and detailed drawings.
  • Review in-house and subcontracted drawings.
  • Source equipment/components with suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Assemble and commission automated machines and subsystems.
  • Produce process documentation (SOPs, d/pFMEA, BOMs, process flows, control plans).

Skills, Abilities, and Experience:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronic Engineering.
  • Extensive experience in designing and building electromechanical products or machines.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software and PLC programming in Ladder Logic.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and pneumatic control systems.
  • Project management experience.
  • Ability to produce engineering drawings to BS8888 standard.
