Principal IT are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Scientist to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have the relevant degree qualifications to provide background in statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualisation. The role will be responsible for analysing large datasets to extract actionable insights, developing predictive models, and working closely with cross-functional teams to implement data-driven strategies managing and analysing data.



Key Responsibilities:

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Data Analysis: Collect, clean, and pre-process large datasets from various sources.
  • Model Development: Develop, test, and deploy predictive models using machine learning techniques.
  • Statistical Analysis: Perform complex statistical analyses to identify trends, patterns, and correlations in the data.
  • Data Visualization: Create compelling data visualizations and dashboards to communicate insights to stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including product development, marketing, and operations, to identify business needs and provide data-driven solutions.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present detailed reports and presentations on findings and recommendations.

Business Workflows:

  • Develop and maintain business workflows to enhance operational efficiency ensuring data & reporting workflows are closely considered.
  • Work closely with different departments to understand their workflow needs and implement solutions.
  • Ensure seamless integration of new workflows with existing systems.
  • Lead automation initiatives across the business to streamline processes and reduce manual effort.

Business Partnership:

  • Develop, test, and deploy predictive models for sales forecasting and stock re-ordering systems.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the business operations to provide tailored support, insights and data-driven decision-making
  • Work with the Executive team on technological development opportunities.

Data Management:

  • Ensure data integrity and security by implementing best practices in data management.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to manage data storage, backup, and retrieval processes.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in data science and IT.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL) and data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
