Matchtech are currently supporting our Central Government client who are seeking an Senior Software Engineer, on an initial 10 month contract.

Join their Professional Services Team within the Commercial Directorate, where you'll play a pivotal role in the development of critical national infrastructure. We are part of a SAS Engineering Team, tasked with building a new suite of event sourcing and streaming services, message persistence, reporting, and outbound streaming services. These services are essential for supporting information flow, audit, proof, and analysis capabilities, with a go-live date set for October 2025.

Our services are Cloud Native & Hybrid Cloud, leveraging Kafka, AWS, Confluent, and Java technologies to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable solutions.



Role Overview:

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Delivering secure, reliable, and scalable software solutions.
  • Supporting your team with technical tasks, providing guidance and hands-on assistance when needed.
  • Evaluating and advising on design choices, ensuring that software solutions balance technical and business needs.
  • Defining and documenting test cases for new systems and maintaining live systems to ensure ongoing performance.
  • Helping to prioritize and direct technical tasks across your team, balancing new developments and the maintenance of live services.


Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Strong expertise in Java and Java Spring.
  • Proficiency with Kafka, Kubernetes, and Docker.
  • Experience in delivering secure and scalable software solutions.


Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with MQ Series.
  • Familiarity with databases like Postgres, Redis, or time-series databases.
  • Experience working with AWS and Hybrid Cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of Confluent and/or MKS.
  • Expertise in Data Replication, Event Streaming, Distributed Data, and Data Archival.
  • Understanding of various data standards and formats, including EDIFACT, XML, and JSON.
