Due to the successful award of a new project, we are looking for a Buyer to join a Civil Engineering contractor on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract. The role will be based onsite in Tyseley, Birmingham and will be responsible for the purchasing of all materials required to carry out the works and complete with project.

Duties

• Procure goods and services both in accordance with Group Framework Agreements / Local Purchasing Agreements, and local market opportunities for bespoke / regional material requirements.
• Identify where possible any procurement betterment against group frameworks and advise senior Procurement team accordingly.
• Coordinate regularly ordered items to ensure that spend is aggregated where possible to ensure best commercial return.
• Ensure compliance and use of processes, procedures and authorisation for all purchases managed within the division.
• To participate in local and group training, workshops and meetings.
• Assist when required with any tenders price returns.
• To expedite bespoke tasks as defined through the appraisal process or agreed with Line Manager.
• Supporting the business to ensure that purchase orders are input, reconciled in a timely and accurate manner; purchase orders closed, goods received processes adhered too and disputes resolved within payment period.
• Ensure that any required order amendments are carried out in a timely manner.

Person Specification

• Experience of purchasing materials within the construction industry
• Working experience of SAP would be advantageous
• Good Microsoft Office skills
• Strong communication skills
