Job Title: SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator)

Location: Northwest; based out of our Salford school with travel to Bolton, Bury, Northern Moor, Oldham, Wigan and Wallasey as required

Salary: From £40,000 per annum

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent, Term Time only plus 5 days

Start Date: ASAP

The Role:

As the SENCO, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all students with SEND receive the support they need to achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers, support staff, parents, and external agencies to develop and implement effective strategies for supporting students with diverse needs. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of our students and to contribute to the overall success of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the provision for students with SEND, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) and coordinate the support provided by teachers and teaching assistants.
  • Conduct regular assessments of students with SEND to monitor progress and adjust support strategies as needed.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a collaborative approach to supporting students.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on best practices in supporting students with SEND.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of SEND provision to the senior leadership team and governing body.
  • Keep up to date with developments in SEND policy and practice, ensuring the school is compliant with the latest guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • SENCO qualification is preferred.
  • Extensive experience of working with children with SEND.
  • In-depth knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and other relevant legislation.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to promoting the inclusion and well being of all students.
