Our client, a prominent player in the manufacturing sector, is seeking a talented Design Engineer to join their team in Fareham. The role involves continuous updating of designs, translating engineering order requirements into manufacturing information, and producing all necessary drawings and specifications for the company's products. This position also requires influencing designs and product improvement initiatives.

• Preparing 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings using Autodesk Inventor
• Updating drawings and associated data of existing products
• Implementing engineering changes in accordance with the company's change control procedures
• Producing detailed 3D CAD models and drawings to customer order requirements
• Creating Bills of Materials (BOMs)
• Providing engineering guidance to customers and other departments
• Ensuring engineering changes are managed cost-effectively
• Communicating frequently with manufacturing personnel regarding new designs
• Training and developing trainee staff as required
• Identifying solutions to improve production efficiency

Essential

• HNC (MECH) or equivalent recognised engineering apprenticeship
• Drawing office experience
• Experience in an industry associated with light and heavy metal fabrications
• Proven experience of taking design projects from brief or concept design to full production
• Knowledge/Experience of Autodesk Inventor & Vault
• Experience of using 3D modelling and creating drawings for manufacture
• Sheet Metal design knowledge (punching, forming, pressing, flat pattern creation, welding/fabrication)
• Practical experience in a manufacturing environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Ability to work within a team environment
• Capability to work to deadlines and manage own time
• Ability to work across multiple platforms
• Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to establish root cause

Desirable

• BA HONS ENG (MECH) or equivalent
• Working knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration products
• Familiarity with additional industrial production techniques
• Experience in the manufacture of finned heat exchangers
• Knowledge/Experience of parametric design
• Previous experience as a Design Engineer or a similar role
