Peace Recruitment's client is a leading tier 1 main contractor with a reputation for delivering high-quality, complex construction projects across the UK. They specialise in delivering landmark projects across the commercial, residential, healthcare, education, and infrastructure sectors. With a commitment to excellence, sustainability, and innovation, they are looking for a Senior Estimator to join their construction build division and help them continue to set industry standards.

This position is based in their Glasgow regional office for Scottish projects 

Role Overview:

As a Senior Estimator in the Build Division, you will play a critical role in the pre-construction phase of their projects which value up to £50m. You will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for complex construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator to contribute to the success of their projects and the growth of our business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for large-scale construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Tender Management: Lead the preparation and submission of tenders, ensuring all deadlines are met and that the tender is compliant with client requirements.
  • Risk Analysis: Identify and assess project risks and opportunities during the estimation process.
  • Value Engineering: Propose alternative construction methods and materials to optimize cost efficiency and project value.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, quantity surveyors, design teams, and subcontractors to gather necessary information and ensure estimates are based on up-to-date and accurate data.
  • Market Analysis: Monitor and analyse market trends, materials prices, and industry developments to inform cost estimates and project strategies.
  • Client Engagement: Engage with clients to understand their requirements and provide guidance on cost implications of various design and construction options.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present detailed cost reports and analysis to senior management and clients.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in construction estimating, with at least 3 years in a senior role within a tier 1 contractor.
  • Sector Knowledge: Extensive experience in commercial, residential, healthcare, and/or infrastructure projects.
  • Education: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Professional accreditation (e.g., MRICS, MCIOB) is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimating software  MS Office, and strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and a strong understanding of construction processes and methodologies.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior estimators and work collaboratively within a team.
