Principal Ecologist Role and Responsibilities:

• Project Leadership: Take charge of ecology-focused projects or steer ecological and ornithological elements within larger multidisciplinary initiatives.
• Hands-On Surveys: Conduct and oversee ecological surveys, ensuring top-notch Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA) and detailed standalone assessments.
• Expert Reporting: Write and review in-depth ecology assessment reports and technical chapters that set the standard for excellence.
• Licensing Expertise: Manage and prepare protected species licence applications with precision.
• Business Growth: Help drive our business forward by building client relationships, attending networking events, and making your mark at conferences.

The right person for the role:

• Experienced Professional: You bring a strong background in ecology, with significant experience in project management, ecological surveys, and technical report writing.
• Technical Knowledge: You have in-depth knowledge of UK ecology and conservation legislation, particularly in relation to protected species licence applications.
• Adaptable and Agile: You're flexible and ready to pitch in on other environmental assessments as needed.

This role is based in Scotland, ideally with ties to the Glasgow or Edinburgh offices. Flexible and hybrid working are supported, but you should be ready for occasional travel to office locations and client sites.
