About the Role:

CAMHS Professionals is seeking a resilient and experienced SEN Teacher for a mixed Year 4 and 5 class in a Camden-based school. This role is ideal for a dedicated educator who can confidently manage a small class of five students with varied academic levels and complex needs, including ASD, ADHD, and challenging behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Management: Lead a mixed Year 4/5 class with five students, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Individualized Support: Tailor lesson plans to meet the diverse academic and social-emotional needs of each student.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with 2-3 support staff members to implement effective strategies for behaviour management and academic achievement.
  • Resilience and Patience: Manage challenging behaviour, including physical outbursts, swearing, and name-calling, with professionalism and compassion.
  • Student Well-being: Collaborate with a Mental Health Specialist for a 1-hour weekly session with each student, addressing their specific emotional and mental health needs.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in an SEN environment.
  • Qualification: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required. Unfortunately, we cannot consider ECTs for this position.
  • Skills: Strong classroom management skills, especially in handling challenging behaviour, are essential.
  • Attributes: High level of emotional resilience, a positive attitude, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
