Sure Start Staff are looking for an experienced Senior Pensions Officer work in Oldham.

To work collaboratively with the Payroll Lead to ensure the effective delivery of all pensions processes, produce statutory returns and ensure broad compliance with statutory regulations. To provide support, guidance and technical advice to Pension Officers and other key stakeholders to ensure a timely and responsive pension service.

Support system developments in relation to Payroll and Pension objectives utilising MHR iTrent and Pension Scheme systems.

Pay: £19.17 – 21.04 per hour
Location: Oldham
Hours: Full time, Monday – Friday

Duties, but not limited to

Key Tasks

  • Ensure that all pension work requests are processed accurately within defined timescales and according to policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Senior Payroll Officers in the preparation of year end and other statutory/non-statutory returns.
  • Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the service through training and development of individuals, under the guidance of the Payroll Lead.
  • Liaise with customers to ensure pension queries on data, processes, procedures and regulations are dealt with for the effective preparation of the payroll.
  • Assist in maintaining and archiving pensions data and records in a safe manner to ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Support pension officers to deal with escalated and/or complex pension issues.
  • Manage the activity of the pension team to ensure legislative and organisational deadlines and requirements are met.
  • Provide input into designs and implementation projects as required.
  • Support the payroll lead in the development, testing and implementation of system changes, in accordance with internal change control processes ensuring compliance with SLA’s and project plans.
  • Provide support for both internal and external audits.

Education & Qualifications / Experience

  • CIPP or a willingness to achieve within 12 months.
  • Experience of pensions administration.
  • Proven experience of working as part of a Pensions Team within a large organisation and sharing knowledge as appropriate.
  • Significant experience in accurate data input, checking and verifying in accordance with organisational regulations and pension systems protocols.
  • Experience of Altair.
  • Demonstrable experience of operating the pension processes from start to end with an emphasis on compliance.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with payroll and pension systems and technologies.

Skills & Abilities

  • Able to work under pressure and meet tight and conflicting deadlines.
  • Good oral and written communication skills with an ability to negotiate and influence others.
  • Analytical skills with the experience of reporting findings clearly and concisely.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of pension legislation.
  • Understanding of the principles and practice of efficient pension service operations serving multiple organisations.
  • Knowledge of Local Government Pension Scheme, Teachers’ Pensions Scheme, NHS Pension Scheme and NEST Pension Scheme.
