This is a great opportunity for an existing Professional Standards Pharmacist, Pharmacist Manager or Regional Pharmacist Manager to develop their skills further and join our well-established organisation in this Niche role.

We are currently seeking a Professional Standards and Clinical Governance Pharmacist to join our team on a maternity cover basis.

You must be a qualified Pharmacist with a GPHC registration to be considered for this position.

Your new role with Avicenna:

As a key member of our Clinical Governance team you will play a critical role in ensuring all pharmacies are operating in accordance with prevailing professional, legal and contractual obligations, company policy and/or Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) under the guidance of the Superintendent Pharmacist.

Reporting to the Superintendent Pharmacist, this role encompassing a wide variety of responsibilities.  It is a role that is pivotal to delivering high professional standards across our branches that are underpinned by high levels of clinical governance with customer safety in mind at all times.

  • To contribute to the development and review of policies and standard operating procedures aimed at managing risk and improving clinical care.
  • The ability to review and implement ongoing clinical governance requirements ensuring all branches are compliant with the NHS Terms of Service.
  • Ensure professional standards within branches are in line with GPhC Standards of Performance, Conduct and Ethics.
  • To deputise for the Superintendent Pharmacist if needed.
  • Support pharmacy teams with GPhC inspections or NHSE CPAF visits.
  • To assist in dealing with customer complaints and dispensing errors promptly and efficiently in line with company procedures.
  • Analyse incident management information identifying trends to improve professional standards and minimise risk.
  • Provide expert pharmacy practice and ethical advice to the pharmacy/central/field teams. Ensure pharmacy colleagues are supported when carrying out their professional and legal duties.
  • Support in the development and implementation of GDPR and Information Governance policies ensuring compliance across the group.
  • Support in the implementation of Health and Safety policies and completion of associated risk assessments ensuring identified actions plans are in place.

We would love to meet someone with:

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience preferably in a similar role focusing on clinical governance.
  • A strong understanding of pharmacy regulations and law.
  • Ability of building strong relationships both with retail stores and leadership team
  • Ability and willingness to travel nationally
