Operations Manager Job in Sevenoaks, Kent

Operations Manager job for an established multidisciplinary consultancy based in Sevenoaks, Kent. The role will be supporting the Directors with the view of progressing into a Director level role. Offering a salary of £75,000 - £90,000 (negotiable) + bonus + healthcare + future share options. You will be joining a growing consultancy with a strong pipeline of work in the residential/affordable housing sector.

The role will be supporting the technical delivery of projects, fee projections, team leadership including performance appraisals for their surveying teams across London and Sevenoaks. They deliver major urban regeneration, remedial, high-rise, building safety case work, measured building surveys and retrofit surveys for Local Authorities, Developers, Housing Associations and Property Management companies. With 4 offices across the south and circa 100 staff, you will be liaising across their wider multidiscipline teams of fire safety, cost consultancy and project management. Our client is looking for a chartered building Surveyor who has worked at a senior operational level for a consultancy, ideally residential/affordable housing background, but other sectors may be considered.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Provide advice to ensure teams deliver comprehensive reports with clear insights and recommended solutions
  • Engage with clients on complex defects, solutions, and enquiries, ensuring client satisfaction throughout projects
  • Manage team finances, including fee proposals, invoicing, and projections
  • Train and mentor building surveyors, project managers, and resource management staff, directly and through line managers
  • Assist with staff appraisals, reviews, and liaise with HR on relevant matters
  • Liaise with contractors, consultants, residents, and stakeholders
  • Support in business development with new projects and nurture repeat business
  • Handle bid writing, submissions, and case study management
  • Oversee CRM system maintenance and improvement
  • Ensure timely completion of inspections, reports, and remedial work
  • Carry out building inspections on commercial, healthcare, and educational properties
  • Write reports and manage contracts for high-rise remediation projects
  • Support resident liaison
  • Lead new service offerings
  • Perform Employers Agent duties on new-build projects
  • Manage resources and quality for PFI surveys, measured surveys, building safety reports, and BIM Information Management
  • Advise teams on tendering and procurement processes
  • Coordinate and collaborate with directors on relevant departmental topics.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years of experience working for a construction or property consultancy
  • MRICS Chartered Building Surveyor, RICS Accredited Degree
  • Experience with working on projects across the full life cycle, including delivery and procurement
  • High-rise residential experience
  • Experienced in delivering service offerings; building safety case work, PFI, measured building surveying, remedial and large-scale new build residential would be preferred
  • Experienced in managing teams
  • Experienced in managing multiple work programmes
  • Experienced in financial management
  • Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and Fire Safety Legislation
  • Remedial / refurbishment experience on largescale projects
  • Experienced in diagnostic, building pathology and report writing
  • UK Driving Licence and own car.
