Sen Teaching Assistant

Twenty4seven Education are seeking and SEN Teaching Assistant to work at a lovely primary school in Oldbury. For this role you will be expected to work as a 1-1 with a pupil who has severe needs in year 3. The most important thing for this role is for there to be a bond between the pupil and candidate. The pupil has challenging behaviour due to their need. The pupil is currently going through the diagnosis of autism.
SEN EXPEREINCE IS ESSENTIAL.
Typical duties of a 1:1 Teaching Assistant:
- Attend to the pupils’ personal needs, and implement related personal programmes
- Supervise and support pupils in access of learning
- Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Support Plans and Personal Care programmes.
- Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher.
- Provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers on pupils’ achievement, progress, problems etc.
Desirable skills -
- A good standard of general education (ie. NVQ level 2 or equivalent)
- Good numeracy and literacy skills – GCSE Maths and English
- Previous experience of working with young people
- Basic understanding of child development and learning
- Ability to use basic technology
- Ability to relate well to children and adults and respond appropriately
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Understanding of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation
- Feel confident working 1:1 with a child under the guidance of their teacher
