If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dynamic team at a co-educational secondary school in Gateshead as a Social, Emotional, Mental Health Needs (SEMH) Teaching Assistant!

As a Social, Emotional, Mental Health Needs (SEMH) Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to students, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. Responsibilities of SEMH Teaching Assistant:

• Provide one-on-one and group support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Needs (SEMH).
• Assist in the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs).
• Support classroom teachers in managing student behaviour and promoting a positive learning environment.
• Foster a safe and inclusive atmosphere for all students.
• Monitor and report on student progress to teachers and parents.
• Collaborate with other staff members to create and maintain a supportive school community.

Requirements of SEMH Teaching Assistant:

• Previous experience working with students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Needs (SEMH) is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
• Relevant qualifications or training in education or child development.
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the school and students.
• Have an updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
