The Role

Working as a member of the design team you will support the sales engineers & project manage new designs from concept to completion involving customer site evaluation where necessary. You will create concepts, sketches, mock-ups, detailed manufacturing drawings and 3D CAD models as required. You will apply your engineering knowledge of constraints to designs to ensure they are produced to customer specifications and meet all necessary manufacturing guidelines. You will be willing to work hands-on, when required, with the production team to help meet customer requirements and on the development of new products. You will create new and refine existing manufacturing drawings ensuring conformity to the required Health & Safety standards for the relevant industry directives as well as producing BOMs, technical documentation / specifications and manufacturing/installation/operating instructions as required.

Main Responsibilities

• Building & Fault-finding pneumatic control circuits.
• Dealing directly with in-house manufacturing, external suppliers, and customers.
• Preparing technical specifications and presenting proposals.
• Preparing BOM’s, User Manuals and technical documentation.

• Work directly with the shop floor, suppliers and customers

Design Manager

The Candidate

• Engineering based Degree or equivalent HNC/HND.
• Demonstrable experience in a similar mechanical design role within a bespoke machinery building environment.
• Use of 2D and 3D CAD packages in production environment (AutoCAD, CREO or SolidWorks).
• Experience in Using PDM or Vault document control
• Understanding of Hydraulic and Electrical control systems.
• Experience with SolidCam or Solidworks
• Project management experience
• Automation experience desirable
