Charge for accommodation: 110 GBP per week

Workplace description: This beautiful country pub with rooms is nestled in the picturesque countryside of West Berkshire. Simple, unfussy, Michelin rated food, ten luxurious bedrooms, award winning real ales, roaring log fires and a quite beautiful walled beer garden await, all within easy access of Newbury, Reading, Heathrow and the M4.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Inventory Management:

Overseeing the ordering, stocking, and management of all beverages, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Ensuring the bar is well-stocked and organized, keeping track of stock levels, and minimizing waste.

Staff Management:

Hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising bar staff, including bartenders and barbacks.

Motivating and leading the team to provide excellent customer service.

Customer Service:

Ensuring guests have a positive experience by delivering prompt and friendly service.

Handling customer complaints and resolving issues to maintain customer satisfaction.

Financial Management:

Managing the bar’s budget, including setting prices, controlling costs, and maximizing profits.

Handling cash management, reconciling tills, and preparing financial reports.

Menu Development:

Collaborating with chefs to create and maintain an innovative and appealing drinks menu that complements the food offerings.

Experimenting with new cocktails, sourcing unique beverages, and staying up-to-date with drink trends.

Compliance and Safety:

Ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations, as well as licensing laws.

Implementing and maintaining hygiene and safety standards.

Event Planning:

Organizing and managing special events, promotions, or themed nights to attract customers.

Coordinating with other departments to ensure seamless service during events.

Essential Criteria:

Leadership and Management: Strong ability to lead and manage a team, delegate tasks, and motivate staff.

Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to providing high-quality service.

Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, from stock management to staff scheduling, effectively.

Financial Acumen: Understanding of budgeting, cost control, and revenue generation.

Creativity: Ability to develop unique and appealing drink menus that enhance the pub’s reputation.

Attention to Detail: Ensuring consistency in drink quality, cleanliness, and customer service.

Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with staff, customers, and suppliers.
