Service Care Solutions is seeking a dedicated and proactive Planning Officer to join a local authority in Bexleyheath.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to utilize their planning expertise in a dynamic environment, working with minimal supervision while supporting the Team Leader and other departments as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Application Processing: Efficiently process a range of planning applications, except for complex cases, which may require guidance from the Team Leader.
  • Advisory Role: Provide clear and accurate information and advice to other officers, council Members, and the public regarding planning matters.
  • Appeals: Represent the Council in appeals through written representations and informal hearings, ensuring a strong and informed case is presented.
  • Committee Support: Assist Senior Planners at Committee meetings, including occasional case presentations as required.
  • Enforcement Advice: Offer expert advice to Enforcement Team Officers on planning-related matters.

Requirements:

  • Educational Background:
    • Possess a degree in a relevant subject.
    • Hold a higher qualification in town planning.
    • Membership with the Royal Town Planning Institute (R.T.P.I.) is essential.
  • Skills and Experience:
    • Proven ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
    • Good analytical skills with the ability to collate, analyze, and interpret data effectively.
    • Competency in using specialized computer packages related to planning.
