Carbon Specialist – Birmingham or London (Hybrid) – £45K - £57k + Package

Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Carbon Specialist to join their team working on the UK's largest civil engineering and infrastructure program. This role offers hybrid working, with flexibility to be based in Birmingham or London.

About the Role:
As a Carbon Specialist, you will provide technical support for whole-life carbon management and reduction across our client’s infrastructure programs. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders, including internal teams, delivery partners, contractors, and the supply chain, ensuring project commitments related to carbon emissions are met efficiently and cost-effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Carbon Manager in developing and implementing carbon management and reduction strategies.
• Design and deploy procedures, tools, and systems to clarify and streamline carbon reduction objectives.
• Provide technical assessments and reviews for the hybrid Bill(s), including - - Environmental Statements, Petitioner responses, and Parliamentary Queries.
• Collaborate with Delivery Teams to offer specialized carbon management support.
• Engage in the Natural and Built Environment team’s broader objectives, contributing to the achievement of carbon reduction goals.
• Represent the client at carbon-related technical meetings with stakeholders.
• Advocate for consistency, innovation, and best practices in carbon management across all projects.
• Continuously enhance your professional skills, staying abreast of industry developments.
• Promote and support Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives throughout your work.

About You:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in carbon management within large-scale infrastructure or civil engineering projects. You should be a proactive communicator, comfortable working with both technical specialists and non-technical stakeholders, capable of delivering successful outcomes in complex environments.

To be considered, you should have:

• A degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in carbon management or a related field.
• Proficiency in assessing and reviewing carbon management deliverables.
• A solid understanding of relevant legislation, technical guidance, industry standards, and best practices.
• Membership in the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).
• Experience in implementing carbon management within medium to high-risk projects.
• Proven ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
• Experience collaborating with subject matter experts, including contractors and consultants.
