Senior Quantity Surveyor – Major Housing Project, Hastings, South Coast  
One of the UK's leading developers is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a significant housing project near Hastings, South Coast.
 
This development includes a diverse range of three, four, and five-bedroom houses, a new primary school and nursery, community and sports facilities, public open spaces, and landscaping.
 
This is an exceptional opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a renowned company recognised for its commitment to excellence and innovation in the housing industry. The role will be based out of the office in West Malling, Kent, with site visits required 1-2 days per week. The remaining days can be worked from home.
 
Role Overview: Senior Quantity Surveyor
  • Optimise contract profitability and cashflow.
  • Ensure completion and compliance with all contract documentation (e.g., Performance Bonds, Warranties).
  • Maintain central storage of all contract and sub-contract documentation.
  • Adhere to commercial procedures via the Business Management System.
  • Present and agree on external valuations and variations with the client’s representative.
  • Manage key subcontract accounts from inception to final accounts.
  • Develop and implement subcontract procurement strategy in line with company procedures.
  • Ensure timely and compliant Payment and Pay Less notices to subcontractors.
  • Monitor and improve commercial processes, setting objectives for contract teams.
  • Prepare and present monthly CVR reports to management and stakeholders.
  • Manage risk and opportunity schedules from start to completion.
  • Contribute to site cost and revenue forecasts across multi-phase developments.
  • Assist in shaping the long-term project delivery strategy.
  • Provide cost and value engineering advice throughout the design process.
  • Conduct personal development reviews and training for surveying staff.
  • Take a proactive approach to dispute avoidance.
  • Ensure compliance with company health and safety standards.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • BSc Hons in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
  • Experience with a Main Contractor or developer.
  • Strong account management and commercial experience.
  • Proficient in sub-contract payment and order recommendations, interim valuations, and final account recommendations.
  • Team player with the ability to thrive in a dynamic on-site environment.
  • Skilled in commercial and risk management on similar projects.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Reputation for integrity, maturity, and sound business judgment.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset to optimize profit in a changing environment.
  • Ability to build rapport and effective working relationships.
  • Willingness to work extra hours to meet deadlines.
