The Opportunity
Due to increased project expansion, our client are currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to help lead the delivery of all engineering work packages (specification, drawing, analysis, verification or assessment of engineering) under the guidance of the Responsible Engineer, which satisfy the legal and functional requirements along with the associated performance conditions to the agreed time, cost and quality.

Contract Estimated Duration – 12 months
This role has been deemed inside of IR35

Location
Warrington (hybrid)

You will have the following qualifications, skills and experience 
  • Experience of working within a highly regulated industry, preferably within the nuclear industry.
  • Experience leading a team of Engineers and Designers in the delivery of safe, fit-for-purpose, fully integrated and operable design solutions that meet product requirements.
  • Experience leading a team of Engineers and Designers in producing design deliverables such as product requirements specifications, technical reports, calculations, technical drawings, installation method statements,
  • risk assessments and design substantiation.
  • Experience of mechanical piping design with knowledge of the relevant design standards and legislation, e.g., ASME B31.3, PER and PSSR.
  • Familiarity and experience of working and complying with applicable British and ISO Standards.
  • Ability to liaise with stakeholders across a wide range of specialist areas and at all levels from both technical and non-technical backgrounds.
  • Experience leading work packages in an integrated, multi-disciplinary design delivery team.
  • Experience of peer review/checking of reports, drawings (proposal &detail drawings) and supporting calculations.
  • Experience applying risk based assurance on designs.
  • Experience ensuring all discipline-related technical, safety and engineering risks are identified, owned and managed.
  • Experience developing cost and time estimates for delivery of design solutions, along with proven track record of delivering designs to scheduled time and cost.
  • Experience managing work packages delivered by the supply chain.
  • Experience coaching and developing junior engineers.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ design delivery experience OR other qualification such as HNC and HND, with 8 or more years design delivery experience
  • You will need BPSS to commence work and expected to be able to gain SC-Clearance P1/P4 Pass.
It's great if you also have the following
  • Qualified and experienced user of Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault.
  • Familiarity and experience of working and complying with applicable nuclear Practices, Processes, Engineering Standards, and Engineering Guides.
  • Experience working within an asset care delivery function on operational facilities, with experience supporting the implementation of asset care projects during construction/installation/commissioning, and responding to Engineering Queries and Fault Observations.
  • Experience of delivering designs through the complete project lifecycle.
  • Experience with machine design and UKCA/CE marking of machinery, with knowledge of the relevant design standards and legislation e.g., The Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations and PUWER.
  • Experience with mechanical handling, with knowledge of the relevant design standards and legislation e.g., LOLER
