Are you an experienced Payroll Administrator / Payroll Specialist looking to take the next step in your career? We have an exciting opportunity, based close to Altrincham Town Centre, reporting directly into the Head of Finance. As a Payroll Administrator / Specialist, you will be responsible for processing 7 payrolls, one of which is in the USA. You will ensure that all payrolls are processed accurately and on time, manage pension schemes, and handle all payroll-related queries. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic setting where attention to detail and a proactive attitude are key.

What will you be doing as a Payroll Administrator / Payroll Specialist?

  • Payroll Processing: Accurately process 7 payrolls (4 monthly, 2 weekly, 1 bi-monthly), including one for the USA.
  • Pension Administration: Manage and administer pension schemes for employees, including auto-enrolment,
  • contribution calculations, and ensuring compliance with pension regulations.
  • Commission Calculations: Accurately calculate and process employee commissions based on sales performance and company policies.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure payroll processes comply with HMRC regulations, including RTI submissions, and handle any queries from HMRC or other regulatory bodies. Liaise with Outsourced Payroll provider in the US.
  • Tax and Deductions: Calculate and process statutory deductions such as PAYE, National Insurance, student loans, and any other required deductions.
  • Payroll Queries: Address payroll-related queries from employees, ensuring timely resolution and providing clear explanations of payroll-related matters.
  • Payroll Software: Use and maintain payroll software systems, ensuring all employee data is up-to-date and secure.
  • End-of-Year Processes: Manage the preparation and distribution of P60s and other end-of-year documentation for UK payrolls.
  • General Administration: Assist with other payroll-related administrative tasks, including maintaining employee records, processing new starters and leavers, and updating pay rates.

We would LOVE to hear from you if you have the following skills and experience:

  • Proven experience in payroll processing
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance, and pension schemes.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent numeracy skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong IT and excel skills
  • Experience in calculating and processing employee commissions would be beneficial
  • Use of payroll software packages Sage 50 and Tempaid is desirable
  • Experience in processing payroll for the US would be useful but is not essential
  • CIPP (Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals) certification or equivalent is preferred
