We are working with a successful and ever-expanding manufacturing client in the Telford area who have experienced phenomenal growth over the years. Due to this growth, they are now looking to recruit a Buyer, to support the Head of Procurement in the purchasing of an assigned commodity.

This role would be suitable for either an experienced Buyer who some solid experience in the full spectrum of procurement, or someone who is maybe either in a Purchasing Assistant / Junior Buyer role now but looking for an opportunity to expand their experience with support, guidance and mentoring. This is a fast-paced, ever developing and forward-thinking organisation which boasts an exciting customer base.

The Buyer will be responsible for:

• Working closely with an assigned group of suppliers
• Preparing forecasts and schedules to ensure sufficient stock levels of materials
• Ensuring purchase orders are placed and expedited with suppliers according to schedule
• Working closely with the production department to ensure material availability
• Working closely with the warehouse department to ensure capacity and inventory levels
• Developing supplier relationships and visiting supplier sites
• Support from a procurement perspective with new product introduction and development teams

Skills and Experience:

• Previous experience in working in a purchasing role from within a manufacturing environment
• CIPS would advantageous but not essential
• Previous experience of working with suppliers
• Good solid understanding of procurement processes and techniques
• Experience in roles such Buyer / Junior Buyer / Purchasing Assistant / Materials Planner / Materials Controller
