I am recruiting for a global leading process manufacturing organisation, who are an established supplier of fundamental products and materials to wider global markets. Due to continued growth, they are looking to align global processes and control systems.

They require an experienced Process Controls Technician on an interim basis for an initial 12 month contract (with likely extension), to oversee the continued maintenance and upgrade of existing control systems and processes

For this position of Process Controls Trchnician, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Maintain the upkeep of the process control systems and applications
  • Ensuring everything is backed Up
  • Support Process Improvement and Process Engineering teams in the development and programming of control sequences
  • Utilizing standards developed for programming of DCS, ESD and SCADA HMI packages
  • Examine and translate users' requirements and/or equipment-related process control queries into appropriate solutions
  • Develop/update standards for any new/modified control system architecture
  • Ensure change management practices are followed when altering the control system
  • Provide input on new technologies considered and stay abreast of technology development and its application, i.e. Advanced Process Control.
  • Develop recommendations for the improvement of infrastructure
  • Assist with operational implementation of the process control and infrastructure modifications and upgrades
  • Provide technical expertise in support of capital projects, process evaluation, and project modifications

The successful Process Controls Technician will need to have the following attributes:

  • HNC/HND/Degree in Electrical/Controls (EC&I) or similar
  • Demonstrate relevant experience in Process Control and Safety Shutdown hardware, software and configuration
  • Emerson DeltaV experience essential
  • ABB System6 experience would be an advantage
  • Experience within a continuous manufacturing process environment (ideally a top-tier COMAH site) preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to understand fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving techniques using Process Control systems and Data Historian.
  • Experience in communication systems such as OPC, Modbus, ethernet networking would be advantageous
