Location: London - Leman Street

Salary: Up to £80,000.00 per annum

Hours: 08:00 – 17:00, Monday - Friday

Our client is a family-owned construction and property maintenance business proudly serving the heart of Central London for over 17 years.

The Role

Our client is seeking a highly organised and professional Business Development manager to join their team.

As the first point of contact for the company, you will play a crucial role in the Business Development Management team.

Responsibilities:·

  • Win new Business and expand on service offering with existing clients.
  • To work closely with other internal stakeholders to ensure bids are fully compliant with client expectations and the business is capable of effective delivery.
  • To manage interactions with potential clients through the bid process.
  • To ensure the business wins bids that are commercially viable.
  • Engage their client with new clients.
  • Present a professional image at all times, both in the office and to clients and be a ‘role model’ for less senior staff.
  • Maintain an optimistic outlook and motivate other members of the team even during difficult times.
  • Have the ability to debate constructively with clients in order to support the bid and demonstrate the business’ credibility.
  • Work flexibly in terms of both time and effort.  At certain times it is likely that extra commitment is required in order to complete and return bids on time.
  • Understand the consequences of your actions for the company.
  • KPI – To bring in £500k of new Planned M&E/Fabric Maintenance works 10% of range in year 1

Key Essentials

  • Client face/ focus – Aim to win new business
  • Joint venture agreements/consortia bidding
  • Be proactive in seeking out potential opportunities.  Agree with the MD those most suitable for the business to target.
  • Be the focal point in preparing a bid.  Bring together a variety of internal stakeholders typically involving operational, commercial/financial and legal specialists.
  • Prepare and review the commercial aspects of the bid ensuring the full service offering is detailed in the final price to the customer.
  • Contribute to the written proposal – both in terms of content and presentation (such as preparation of a management summary).
  • Maintain visibility of the cost of bidding.
  • Demonstrate sufficient technical expertise to facilitate and work closely with technical specialists to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Represent the company with potential clients, where required to do so, in a professional and credible manner.
  • Advise the business of any standard or accreditation the company doesn’t currently hold that is repeatedly requested in bids.
  • Manage client power point presentations as and when required.
  • Client events/ marketing
  • Provide reports and updates to the business on potential bids and progress with current activity.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years in a BDM role
  • Credible and effective with clients
  • Good Knowledge of the Facilities and Maintenance industry is preferred:
    • Mechanical (HVAC)
    • Electrical
    • BMS
    • Fabric Services, repairs and maintenance
    • Security (basic level)
    • Cleaning Services (basic level)
  • A track record in OJEU Bids winning contracts of a reasonable scale
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent computer literacy with MS Office software
  • Systems orientated to ensure things follow a procedure
  • Prepared to take responsibility and take the lead with bids
  • Team player
  • Ambitious and keen to win
