Key Responsibilities:

As a Geotechnical Engineer with this consultancy, your responsibilities will include:

  • Field Investigations: Assist in planning, specifying, and executing field investigations. Coordinate and schedule laboratory testing to ensure projects are completed on time.
  • Problem Solving: Apply your technical expertise to identify and implement effective solutions to both routine and complex challenges, ensuring successful project outcomes.
  • Records Review: Review contractor records, field forms, and laboratory reports for accuracy and compliance. Analyse drilling and test pit logs, field investigation dailies, laboratory test reports, and chain of custody logs.
  • Design Expertise: Utilise your knowledge of shallow and deep foundation systems, ground improvement techniques, and slope stability principles to contribute to the design of geotechnical elements such as foundations, retaining structures, earthworks, and slope stabilisation measures.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Assist in preparing Geotechnical and Geo-environmental Interpretive Reports. Analyse site investigation data, interpret results, and provide comprehensive documentation of findings and recommendations.
  • Proposal Support: Contribute to the preparation of proposal scopes of work, programme schedules, and fee structures. Your attention to detail and ability to articulate technical requirements will be key in crafting compelling proposals.
  • Software Proficiency: Utilise specialised geotechnical software tools, such as Open-Ground (OGC), to enhance technical capabilities and optimise design processes.
  • Desk Studies: Conduct thorough Desk Studies, reviewing available data and conducting site reconnaissance to provide valuable insights for project planning.
  • Field Experience: Leverage any previous ground investigation experience to contribute to field activities and offer valuable insights throughout the project lifecycle.
  • CAD Proficiency: Use AutoCAD software to create precise and accurate design drawings, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and specifications.
