This growing business is looking for a driven Mechanical Engineering Manager with the capability to pull together a Mechanical team of 12, working hand in hand with the Electrical Controls team to ensure all projects are delivered on time and any potential issues or delays are dealt with promptly and efficiently.

You will use your mechanical design engineering background coupled with your skills in team management to drive through the development of new, cutting edge solutions to build systems for leading corporations in the UK, USA & China.

Mechanical Engineering Manager - The Role

• Take overall responsibility for mechanical design of projects, delegating & checking completed work
• Ensure the mechanical designs are delivered on-time within scope & budget
• Provide guidance and support to the Mechanical department including Fitters & Technicians
• Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives
• Liaise with other departments including Electrical & Production to ensure material and resources are sufficient enough to meet critical delivery dates

Mechanical Engineering Manager - Requirements

• Bachelor degree  
• Knowledge of 3D CAD ideally SolidWorks, Inventor also considered
• Background of mechanical design for complex special purpose automated machinery is essential for this role
• Experience of applications using servo motor / motion control advantageous
• Ability to interpret various mechanical drawings/documents
• Confident communicator, both written and verbal - ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
• Knowledge of engineering lifecycle and business process
• Proven ability to take responsibility for Engineers ensuring projects are delivered on time and to scope
• Willing to attend site where required on an international basis - travel/time away from home minimal

This is an excellent opportunity to take on a senior role within an established business as they move into their next growth phase. You will report directly to the Engineering Director & Managing Director, giving you input and influence into business decisions. 

This is an office based role located in East Sussex. Commutable locations include Crowborough, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hull, Eastbourne, Hastings and Rye.

Minimum office hours are 10:00 - 16:00 Monday to Thursday inclusive, and 10:00 - 13:00 on Fridays.  The company provides a profit share scheme which for fiscal year 2024 is 20% on target performance.
