Our Heathrow Airport based client has responsibility for the fuel between its receipt at the airport perimeter and delivery out of the hydrant system to the Into-Plane Companies. This client is a joint venture between the major oil companies and airlines.

Due to expansion they are actively seeking x2 Mechanical Maintenance Engineers to join the team

Location: Heathrow Airport.

Salary: £42-46k + Overtime + Bonus + Private Healthcare

Working hours: Full time, 40 hours per week. Normal working hours are Monday to Friday Days. There will be a requirement to work night shifts on maintenance projects and engineering, this will be paid as overtime.

The role

With over 10,000 items of plant listed in its maintenance system (mostly rotating machinery, valves and pipework but also electrical items), each with designated maintenance frequencies (typically daily, weekly, monthly, six-monthly or annually). Maintenance planning and execution is further broken down into routine maintenance and major maintenance programmes that require engineering insight and competencies.

Major complex maintenance activities need to be planned, scheduled and action items followed up on so that the company does not fall behind in its preventative maintenance plan of critical equipment.

  • You will lead on mechanical repairs and repairs to the plant and the installation of new equipment.
  • Support the safe and smooth uninterrupted operation of the tank farms & hydrant (pipework) system.
  • Participate in the company's asset integrity programme, by proactively and effectively inspecting all assets (other than those inspected by electrical engineers) at required frequencies. In the event that such inspections identify that repairs or replacements are necessary, participate in the implementation of such repairs or replacements.
  • Participate in the company's programmes to develop, implement and sustain methodologies to proactively inspect ageing and end-of-life assets, and - when relevant - repair and/or replace such assets.
  • When asked to do so by the Maintenance and Engineering Supervisor, participate in works led by others in the company, such as the project supervisor.
  • Support the maintenance team with technical guidance to effectively to deliver the maintenance tasks of the company.
  • Execute Planned Preventative Maintenance system. (Weekly, Monthly, Six monthly and Annual inspections)
  • Technical knowledge, specification of new and replacement equipment and assets.
  • Help define competency profiles for members of the maintenance team and provide / organise provision of competency assessment and development programmes as appropriate.
  • Support the supervisor team with planning, organisation and report writing skills to improve the effectiveness of the supervisor team.
  • Lead small works on the plant, modifications or changes in equipment.

Experience required

You will have experience in industrial process operation & construction, pipeline construction & operation or pumping of fluids through complex pipework. The role is hands on and ideally requires good practical understanding of tank farms, valves, rotating machinery and associated pipework.

Minimum 4 years Engineering Maintenance experience

Permit to work experience desirable
