One of the UK’s leading Facilities Management (FM) providers are now looking for a Mechanical Authorising Engineer to join their largest and most iconic UK Account. 

The client are in retail and corporate banking, with an estate consisting of 100s of retail branches but also critically, an extensive corporate portfolio from Bournemouth to Glasgow, which includes Head Offices and Data Centres.

The employer here provide the full hard and soft services package across the contract, and with a recent long term extension confirmed, there is a need to step up the service delivery, ensuring we have a robust Authorising Engineer function at the top of the account, ensuring our many engineers are working correctly and safely

This is a dynamic and growing account with great investment going on across buildings and new builds, featuring brand new M&E systems and a major focus on Sustainability

Working with the extensive team of Engineering Managers, Asset team, Projects team and other Authorising Engineers you will work to develop the SSoWs and manage the appointment of APs

This is a fantastic role for a qualified and accomplished Mechanical Engineer with either AE experience already, or the potential to from AP to AE. It is  chance to work at the heart of an iconic global contract , following a long term extension, for a world class employer on a truly prestigious and cutting edge estate.

Actions will include:

  • Act as Authorising Engineer for Mechanical and Confined Space in support of the existing Authorising Engineer for these activities in accordance with the employer and Account-specific Safe System of Work processes and procedures.
  • Assist the account site engineering teams to deliver a safe, compliant, cost effective and responsive service for all clients.
  • Work with the Site Engineering Managers to contribute to the development of the Site Engineering Teams, ensuring personal behaviours are appropriate, in line with policies and processes and client values and are visible to all employees.
  • Support the Site/Regional Engineering Managers in ensuring the Enigineering Teams’ skills and knowledge are sufficient to support current / future business needs together with the identification, provision and coordination of all appropriate training complete with mentoring / coaching and assessment.
  • Implement, administer and audit Mechanical and Confined Spaces Safe Systems of Work and, more widely, the employer and Account-specific Statutory Compliance requirements.
  • Promote and ensure the highest levels of Health and Safety are achieved across sites.
  • Ensure Statutory, mandatory and contractual compliance for delivery of a Safe System of Work
  • Be responsible for setting the Safe System of Work requirements for High Risk activities on sites
  • Interview, assess and appoint authorised persons across contracts in line with company policies, standards and procedures
  • Lead a team of Authorised Persons to coach and mentor teams on what good Safe Systems of Work compliance delivery requires
  • Define the exact extent of the systems and installations for which each Authorised Person is responsible and, where appropriate, any part of the system which is excluded from the Authorised Person responsibilities
  • Maintain a register of all Authorised Persons
  • Reports to management any deficiency in the number of suitably trained and experienced Authorised Persons where this significantly impairs management’s ability to provide a safe and efficient service

We need from you:

  • Mechanical qualifications and strong experience either as an AE or AP
