Our client, a well-established and privately owned engineering company, is a key 1st and 2nd tier supplier to the automotive industry. With a rich history and multiple sites across the Midlands, they are known for their expertise in the batch manufacturing of precision components for several leading OEMs across various sectors.

After a record breaking 2023 the company is experiencing a period of sustained organic and acquisitive growth, supported by substantial investment in new machinery and infrastructure.

In line with their ongoing expansion, our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Team Leader to oversee a team of up to 12 members on the afternoon shift within their CNC and traditional machine shop.

This facility is dedicated to producing high-quality components that meet strict quality, cost, and delivery parameters, making this role crucial to the company’s operational success.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of machinists, ensuring efficient utilisation of both labour and machinery to meet production targets.

Organise and schedule machine time to maximise productivity while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

Ensure compliance with key business KPIs, including Safety, Quality, Environmental, Production Performance, and Cost of Manufacture.

Act as a hands-on leader, engaging directly with the production floor to solve problems, optimise processes, and ensure seamless operation.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall operational efficiency.

Collaborate closely with other departments, including quality control and maintenance, to ensure the smooth running of the production line.

Provide detailed reports on shift performance, including any issues that arise, and propose solutions to improve outcomes.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in team management within a manufacturing environment, with a strong preference for those with knowledge of machining processes. This is a hands-on role that requires a leader who is comfortable working directly on the shop floor and who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. We are particularly interested in ambitious individuals who are eager to advance their careers into senior management roles, as the company offers a structured career path with ample opportunities for progression.
