I am currently recruiting a Family Support Worker to join a fantastic Family Assessment Centre in RedHill, Surrey . The role is to work directly with complex families where there are safeguarding concerns and there may be a real risk of them otherwise into care. Successful candidates will work alongside the Social Workers and families to coach parents to improve their parenting abilities and support children primarily aged under 5 to reach their full potential.

  • Title: Family Support Worker

  • Salary: between- £25,000 - £27,000

  • Location: RedHill, Surrey

  • Hours: Full-time

  • Shift pattern: 8am-4pm ,9am-5pm or 1.30pm-9.30pm

    You'll need: counselling skills including active listening and a non-judgemental approach. sensitivity and understanding. patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

    An appropriate social care qualification equivalent to at least NVQ level 3. 2. Knowledge and experience of direct work with families who have complex needs and understanding of the Troubled Families' remit.

  • To provide a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for children and parent which allows them to feel free from harm, difficulty and stress.

  • To remain informed and knowledgeable of company aims and objectives in order to promote and work in line with these.

  • To undertake daily responsibilities and assigned tasks.

  • To respect the confidentiality of clients and colleagues in accordance with professional practice.

  • Ensuring that any breach of confidentiality is managed ethically and in line with company policy and/or with the needs of the subject being the upmost priority.

  • Empowering and allowing opportunities for families to play an active role in decision making within their assessments and any future plans that are made.

  • To maintain accurate recordings of all involvement and observations of

  • individuals/families in a clear, and concise manner.

  • To ensure that all written work is produced to an acceptable level and completed within the agreed timescales.

  • To escort family members as required, on shopping expeditions, to appointments (including court, statutory, medical, housing, finance ect), their homes, on recreational outings etc. Ensuring appropriate support is provided to ensure safe and timely arrival.

  • To encourage parent (s) to develop appropriate social networks through the attendance of purpose filled activities in the community to promote the development of support systems and social integration.

  • To undertake and complete detailed records of observations of basic care tasks, in accordance with the stipulated care plan, direction from managers and policies and procedures of the organisation. Providing and reporting on any support, advice and modelling deemed necessary. Care tasks may include completion of the following

  • routines:

  • Feeding

  • Bottle Sterilisation

  • Bottle Making

  • Nappy Changing

  • Bath Time

Stimulation and Interaction

  • To undertake home visits as directed by the management team.

  • To monitor/visit parents/carers and their children, on a planned or ad hoc basis in the unit or community while keeping their safety at the forefront and reporting any concerns to the families' Case Manager. In addition to recording these concerns on the family &file.

  • To respond to the needs of families in order to promote their welfare and safety.

  • Ensuring that any developed care plans are reflective and updated to respond to changing levels of need.

  • To assist in the maintenance of a safe and secure residential environment and report all maintenance concerns to the Shift Leader.

  • To develop positive working relationships with families, free of judgement and which may be deemed as positive, rewarding and unconditional.

  • To administer access to medications and record all transactions accordingly in line with Company policy.

  • To undertake room checks as required and in accordance with the shift plans, policies and procedures.
