Job Title: Site Manager
Carrington West is delighted to be working with a leading civil engineering contractor in the UK. We are currently seeking an experienced and proactive Site Manager to deliver a range of Local Authority civil engineering projects for West Northamptonshire Council.
 
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Construction Manager, this role offers an exciting opportunity to manage and deliver projects such as footpath reconstructions, carriageway resurfacing, drainage improvements, traffic signal upgrades, and structures repairs. The successful candidate will ensure that all works are delivered on time, within budget, and with a strong focus on health, safety, and environmental standards.
 
Key Responsibilities:
·Ensure the Health and Safety of the workforce, the public, and yourself in line with Kier SHE processes and procedures.
·Manage construction activities on-site, ensuring delivery is on schedule and within budget.
·Oversee site communication, engaging with West Northamptonshire Council (WNC), the public, elected councillors, and parish councils.
·Ensure compliance with Chapter 8 and CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations.
·Interpret scheme drawings, Bills of Quantities (BOQ), and other documents in line with NEC4 contract requirements.
·Inspect and ensure quality of work in accordance with the Inspection Test Plan, scheme designs, and current specifications.
·Ensure adherence to NEC4 change control procedures, including early warnings and compensation events.
·Foster an inclusive workplace culture, promoting the wellbeing and development of your team while encouraging diversity of thought and background.
 
Essential Requirements:
·HNC (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering
·NRSWA Supervisor accreditation
·12D Traffic Management certification
·NEBOSH General and Construction Certificate
·SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
·Full, clean driving licence
 
Skills and Experience:
·Proven experience managing both direct employees and civil engineering contractors on live public highways.
·IT literate - proficient in MS Office and order management databases.
·Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate staff and build effective relationships.
·Strong communication skills, with experience engaging with the public, clients, and key stakeholders.
·Highly organised and self-motivated, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
