Power BI SQL Developer

Our client is seeking a Business Intelligence / SQL Developer to join their talented team. The ideal candidate will have experience writing complex SQL reports using various tools, including SSRS and PowerBI, and the ability to analyze existing SQL to understand source data structures. The Business Intelligence / SQL Developer will be responsible for creating new reports, updating and maintaining existing ones, and converting reports and queries from PowerBI to SSRS.

To excel in this role, you should be skilled at interrogating source data (both PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server), analyzing and documenting dependencies, and writing and understanding complex SQL to meet business requirements. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in data analysis and management, along with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Developing efficient and accurate code is crucial. Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Board, Senior Leadership Team, Line Manager, and Colleagues to ensure compliance and uphold duties.
• Design, develop, and maintain business intelligence reports in SSRS.
• Convert existing PowerBI reports to SSRS.
• Ensure reports are updated in alignment with system and data upgrades.
• Thoroughly test and validate report results to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Work with the team to upgrade the existing SSRS environment.
• Interrogate and analyze data to support the project team and business users.
• Maintain software and database objects, as well as system user access and control.
• Become an expert on data structures and databases, understanding how data interrelates.
• Monitor the performance of key reports and recommend improvements.
• Educate team members through training and individual support.

Qualifications / Experience

• 5 years of relevant experience.
• Strong educational background in Information Technology or Computer Science.
• Exceptional technical skills in database architecture, design, and writing efficient, complex SQL.
• Experience with Microsoft SSRS and PowerBI.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and SQL Server, with a strong focus on SQL programming and performance tuning.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to quickly recognize, isolate, and resolve technical issues.
• Ability to performance tune queries and databases.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Broad understanding of the financial services industry, particularly asset finance.
• Experience with Alfa, Sage X3, or other financial leasing software is highly preferred.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt quickly to project and priority changes.
• Highly responsive and adaptable team player.
