GSL Education are currently recruiting a Teaching Assistant to work in one of our caring Special schools based in Portsmouth. This school caters for children who have difficulty regulating their emotions and have a number of complex needs.

This school is looking for a patient and supportive person to join their friendly team.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will be working under the guidance of an experienced teacher to help support children in the class who have a range of needs. You will be working with small groups of children, through targeted and individualised interventions. Through your role, you will help to build a nurturing environment so that the children feel safe and supported. Some children may need help regulating their emotions, so a calm and patient approach is desired.

Ideal candidates will have relevant experience working with children who have learning difficulties and complex needs. Additionally, having a knowledge of PECS or Makaton would be an advantage but is not essential. We are looking for a person who is positive and has a light hearted attitude, as working in this environment can be challenging.

The benefits of working here:

•            £384.60 - £450 per week.

•            Full Time (Term time only) – 8:30am – 3:30pm

•            Location: Portsmouth

•            Start time: ASAP

To work with GSL Education as a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you should: 
 

• Have the right to work in the UK. 
• Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years. 
• Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
