About the Role

We are looking for compassionate and experienced Residential Support Workers to join our team, working in Doncaster at an Adults with Autism Residential. This role requires flexibility and a commitment to providing high-quality care and support to individuals with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The position includes a variety of shifts, including mornings, afternoons, overnight sleep-ins, and waking night shifts. It is part time hours, the perfect opportunity to get some extra hours along side another role that you may be doing currently. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Personal Care and Support: Provide high-quality care tailored to the individual needs of residents, including personal hygiene, dressing, and daily living activities.
  • Behavioural Management: Utilise de-escalation techniques and positive behaviour support strategies to manage challenging behaviours, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
  • Activity Coordination: Organise and participate in recreational and therapeutic activities, promoting social interaction and skill development.
  • Emotional and Mental Health Support: Offer empathetic and practical support to residents dealing with mental health challenges, fostering a stable and nurturing atmosphere.
  • Daily Living Skills: Assist residents in developing independence through training in daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and personal organisation.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of care provided, incidents, and resident progress. Report any concerns regarding resident well-being to the appropriate personnel.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including safe moving and handling practices.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, healthcare professionals, and external agencies to provide holistic support to residents.
  • Crisis Intervention: Respond confidently and calmly to emergencies, providing first aid or immediate care as necessary.
Essential Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience working with individuals with SEND, particularly in a residential setting. Experience managing challenging behaviour is crucial.
  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in health and social care (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent).
  • Enhanced DBS Check: A full enhanced DBS check for both children and adults is required prior to commencement.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, afternoons, sleep-ins, and waking nights.
  • Moving and Handling: Certification and experience in safe moving and handling practices.
  • Mental Health Experience: Competence in supporting individuals with mental health needs, including experience in managing mental health crises.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with residents, families, and professionals.
  • Resilience and Patience: The ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations, demonstrating patience and resilience.
  • Commitment to Safeguarding: A thorough understanding of safeguarding practices, ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents.
Desirable Attributes
  • Driving License: A valid UK driving license, as the role requires travel.
