We are recruiting to a Deputy Team Manager (DTM) Social Work role within Intermediate Care Southwark (ICS). ICS is an integrated team including physiotherapists, social workers, occupational therapists, nurses, pharmacists and rehabilitation support workers who provide short term, targeted support to avoid hospital admission and support discharges by working together to maximise a person's independence. We work from a strength based position to build on existing skills and resources. The service works alongside specialist care provision. The need for care is regularly reviewed within the period of reablement. Additionally ICS Adult Social Care support the urgent response social work input within the @Home team. The aim of this team is to respond to crisis situations and hospital admission avoidance.

The role provides an exciting opportunity to work in a multi-disciplinary setting, with a focus on strengths based practice, promoting independence and recovery. The Deputy Team Manager, with the Team Managers, will be responsible for providing leadership for the whole team by providing supervision and oversight to Social Workers, Occupational Therapists and any other clinical or non-professionally qualified colleagues. The post holder will do this through the provision of management, professional expertise, skills and advice to ensure we deliver high quality services are within adult services (Older people and physical disabilities).

The role entails:

- The provision of management, professional expertise, skills and advice to ensure high quality services are delivered.

- Managing staff to ensure that outcomes are both safe and appropriate to the identified need.

- Supporting the Team Manager in service development, safeguarding, professional supervision and other management responsibilities

- To be accountable for the practice of our multi-disciplinary team and provide effective professional leadership, supervision, mentoring and coaching to enhance the quality of practice, undertake performance appraisals and investigate complaints.

- Covering and leading the duty function within both Intermediate Care and Urgent Response.

- Within @Home, triaging incoming referrals to social care urgent response and case allocation.

- To undertake timely allocation of work to the right person and effectively manage waiting lists and risk. To undertake performance monitoring to ensure that our statutory responsibilities are met.

- Authorising assessments and any other relevant work in a timely manner, and ensuring a high standard.

- Building and maintaining positive working relationship with relevant teams and negotiating smooth transfers of case responsibility when appropriate,

- To ensure that safeguarding is a key priority and that effective systems and processes are in place for the investigation of all allegations and incidents of reported abuse.

To be considered, it is essential that you have a recognised Social Work qualification (Social Work Degree or Diploma in Social Work) and full Social Work England registration as well as recent or significant relevant experience in a similar role.
