A new Category Buyer vacancy has arisen in our fast-growing company. This is a fantastic opportunity for a successful candidate to join our procurement team.

Location: Skegness, Lincolnshire with the option to uptake Micronclean’s hybrid working policy
Job Type: Permanent Full Time
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm (with half an hour unpaid break), flexible options offered.
Salary Range: £36,000pa - £39,000pa (dependent on qualifications and experience) + bonus

Job Role and Key Responsibilities
 
We are looking for an experienced Category Buyer to join the business at an exciting stage in its growth plans. Demand for our products is currently unprecedented and therefore there is substantial scope for personal development and wider experience gain.
 
Our Procurement function is critical to ensuring the continuity of supply of our products and services, demonstrating excellent customer service to internal customers whilst ensuring that products and services are procured at the most competitive price to improve margin. 
 
The Category Buyer will manage the procurement category of raw materials and services for our Consumables business unit, driving improvements in cost, quality, and availability in order to generate and maximise business unit margin.
 
The role’s key responsibilities include: 
  • Develop and adopt a category management approach to the procurement of raw materials services used within the Consumables business unit.  
  • Develop and pursue cost saving strategies for the Consumables business unit. 
  • Execute competitive procurement exercises to achieve cost reductions within the Consumables business unit. 
  • Negotiate advantageous terms and pricing for supply arrangements.
  • Performance Management of business-critical suppliers. 
  • Management of business stock holding policy. 
  • Providing procurement support and advice to key internal stakeholders. 
  • Lead by example and provide support to other members of the Procurement Department where needed. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications required: 
 
Essential 
  • Already working towards or a desire to complete a Procurement related qualification, for example the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS). 
  • Experience of undertaking competitive tendering exercises, including the use of Request for Quotation and Request for Proposal documentation. 
  • Knowledge of supplier performance management and supplier relationship management. 
  • A detailed understanding of MRP system principles. 
  • Detail orientated - highly accurate, excellent attention to detail, ability to analyse and interpret data to influence stakeholders.  
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook; including the ability to manipulate data, use pivot tables, graphs, and lookups.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and Internationally. 
 
Desirable 
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (MCIPS) 
  • Bachelor’s degree (or degree equivalent). 
  • Experience of strategic sourcing in response to business objectives. 
  • Experience in importing goods, working with freight forwarders, related import documentation and administering associated costs.
  • Knowledge of cross functional/project working and internal stakeholder management. 
  • Full, valid UK/EU driving license.
