Location: Hammersmith and Fulham - 1 Day per week in the office

Reports to: Chief Solicitor (Planning and Property)

Our agency is proud to partner with Hammersmith and Fulham Council in the search for a skilled and motivated Legal Officer (Planning and Property). This role is an excellent opportunity for legal professionals who are passionate about property law, local government, and contributing to the community.

Role Overview

As a Legal Officer, you will play a vital role in providing legal advice and guidance on property matters to the Homebuy and Property Compliance teams. You will be responsible for ensuring that legal processes run smoothly, documents are prepared accurately, and clients receive outstanding legal support.

Key Responsibilities
Legal Documentation & Advice: Prepare legal documents and provide advice on Right to Buy, Lease extensions, Collective enfranchisement, and other property-related matters.
Property Transactions: Handle the creation and discharge of mortgages and routine acquisitions of land.
Cross-Departmental Support: Assist with property title investigations, first registrations, and procedural aspects of compulsory purchase orders.
Client Communication: Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and that clients are regularly updated on the progress of their matters.
Mentorship & Development: Assist with the supervision and training of junior legal staff, contributing to a supportive and high-performing team environment.

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking candidates who have:

A Law Degree or Equivalent: Strong foundational knowledge in law, particularly property law.
Local Government Experience: Experience working within a local government legal department, with a solid understanding of relevant laws and regulations.
Communication Skills: The ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, with individuals and groups at all levels.
Organisational Skills: The ability to manage and prioritise your workload effectively, taking initiative where necessary.
