Job Type: Full-time
Hours of Work: Monday - Thursday 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM, Friday 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Engineering @ 365 Ltd has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Estimator to join our clients estimating team. The role involves preparing tenders, securing new business, and maintaining relationships with both new and existing clients. A strong understanding of Structural Steelwork is essential, and knowledge of Architectural Metalwork would be beneficial, though not required. The successful candidate will be highly organised and an effective negotiator at all levels. While this role is primarily office-based, occasional site visits may be required.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Prepare tender bids by analysing customer requirements, using accurate material, fabrication, and labour costs to provide quality written submissions.
  • Negotiate and secure tender wins.
  • Attend client meetings alongside Directors.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients, including Quantity Surveyors and Commercial teams.
  • Build relationships with premier suppliers, researching and procuring materials, equipment, and labour.
  • Prepare accurate take-offs from architectural and structural drawings.
  • Negotiate prices with suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Manage the estimating and commercial aspects of the tender process.
  • Liaise with the Drawing Office to understand and interpret site requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Project team to ensure timely delivery of contracts.
  • Work with all relevant departments to ensure smooth planning and project implementation.
  • Create bids for new contracts and support purchasing activities.
  • Prepare handover documents for Project Managers and installation teams.
  • Maintain up-to-date records and databases.

Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Estimating, preferably within the Structural Steelwork sector. Additional qualifications and skills include:

  • Experience in preparing tenders and undertaking take-offs from construction drawings.
  • Knowledge of Architectural Metalwork (beneficial, but not essential).
  • Existing relationships with Contractors, Clients, and key suppliers.
  • Excellent communication skills and relationship-building abilities.
  • Knowledge of Commercial contracts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and IT skills.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Valid UK Driving Licence.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to interpret and work from drawings.

Additional Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in the Construction Industry with a proven track record.
  • Must live within a reasonable commuting distance to the West Midlands.
  • Strong commercial or working knowledge of Structural Steelwork.
